8:00am-10:00am,  ET Canada & US

Business Meeting

$USD 350

$USD 175 (Member Only)

Course Objectives:

Do you know that the number one cause of hydraulic/engine component failure is contamination, while most of these failures can be prevented by proper filtration? This course will provide the audience an overall understanding of the fuel and hydraulic oil filtration market, products, and technologies used for different applications. We will discuss the contaminants in the fuel/hydraulic filtration system, various filter designs and media used for fuel/hydraulic filtration, and performance testing and product evaluation methods. Recent developments, challenges, and trends for future development will also be discussed.

· Introduction

o Fuel filtration market

o Hydraulic filtration market

· Understanding Contaminants in Fuel/Hydraulic Filtration

· Market Pressure and Emerging Challenges

· Emerging Challenges in Diesel Fuel Filtration

· Filter Media Technologies

o Hydraulic filter media

o Gas/diesel filter media

· Methods for Performance Testing and Product Evaluation

o Standard test methods

o Non-standard test method

· Unmet needs and trends for future developments

Christine Sun, Ph.D.

Dr. Christine Sun, President of Waterloo Filtration Institute, is a renowned technical and market expert in the global filtration industry. With over 30 years of experience in academia and the industry, she has an in-depth knowledge of filtration and extensive hands-on expertise in product development with over 100 technical publications and patents. She is also actively involved in many air/liquid filter test standard developments.

Over the years, Dr. Sun has developed many professional courses to promote the global filtration industry for a clean, healthy, and sustainable world, such as “Nanofiber Technologies in Filtration” (AFS, 2013), “Filter Media Training Course” (INDA, 2014), “Air Filtration Market, Technologies and Trends” (AFS, 2015), “Filter Media Market and Technologies” (WFC12, 2016), “Filter Media Technologies” (AFS, 2019), and “Facemask Media Technologies (WFI 2020). ‘The addition of INDA’s Nonwoven Filter Media Training Course was tremendously received’ as Dave Rousse, INDA’s President, said after Dr. Sun’s Course at Filtration 2014. Dr. Sun became known as “a brilliantly articulate and lively instructor who is skilled in guiding filter media professionals through the complexities of the air, liquid, and nanotechnology markets.”

Dr. Sun received her Ph.D. from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and her Executive Certificate from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management. From 2004 to 2011, Dr. Sun worked for Freudenberg Filtration Technologies as an R&D manager and then served as Technology Director for Donaldson from 2011-to 2013. She was the AFS Chair from 2016-to 2017 and received the AFS Fellow Award in 2019, Sr. Scientist Award in 2012, and the best paper awards from INDA in 2008. She is also an editorial board member for Textile Research Journal and Journal of Industrial Textiles.
